Farmer's Horse Coffee

Overview

Making Every Visit Count at a Cozy, Overcrowded Cafe.

As a regular coffee shop explorer, I noticed that Farmer’s Horse Coffee—a cozy, beloved café near Northeastern’s campus—had an experience gap. Despite its charm, customers often lost time, energy, and opportunities due to limited seating and hidden menu favorites. This project reimagines how a digital app could help customers order smarter, plan better, and connect more deeply with the café community.

“Between Us” is a digital letter writing experience for friends. A space to write, receive, and unlock heartfelt letters over time. Even when life gets busy, “Between Us” lets you stay emotionally close through thoughtful words, gentle surprises, and intentional connection.

How might we help Farmer’s Horse Coffee customers better plan their visits, discover hidden menu gems, and maximize their time in a consistently crowded café environment?

Street Interviews & User Interviews

I conducted casual interviews with Farmer’s Horse regulars and first-time visitors. Key insights included:

  • Many customers came to study or work and felt frustrated when seating wasn't available.

  • First-time visitors often felt overwhelmed by the menu and didn't know about off-menu favorites like the banana bread latte.

  • Regulars loved the vibe but wished for an easier way to try new drinks without guessing.
